Principal’s Corner: A Message from Principal Kamau
Dear Warner Community:
Congratulations to Warner students, teachers, and parents for making it a wonderful 2015-2016 learning year.
Today, I reflect on my first-year at Warner Avenue School and I want to say:
I am appreciative for the steps we have taken toward further strengthening the partnerships between school, home and the community.
It has been my blessing and honor to work very closely with WAVE Co-Presidents, Margaret Meenaghan and Sabrina IsHak. They have been instrumental in my acclamation toWarner Avenue and they have gained my love and respect because their sole mission as leaders is to enrich Warnereducational programs via school/parent partnerships.
The teachers at Warner Avenue uphold themselves as true professional educators by setting a high bar for themselves and our students. Our teachers are exemplary and I am honored to be their principal!
Thank you Ms. Chi. Your support with teachers and the community is invaluable!
The office team, Ms. Pam & Ms. Carolyn and Mr. Jerome make our daily work lighter. They never tire till the job is done. Thank you team!
I shall not attempt to name all the families who have given me their support throughout the year. If I should try, I would surely run out of WWH space. Nonetheless, I can say without any hesitation that Warner Community is a joyous and involved community.
I am delighted for our culminating 5th grade class; however I will miss them dearly. Life moves us in different directions and I will say goodbye to them for now but I will always hold them in a special place in my heart.
When the week comes to a close we will say a summer farewell and most families will return in the fall. Should your family not return, I wish you continued health, love and happiness.
Farewell to our beloved Ms. Hartley. I expect her to come by often! Farewell Ms. Ziff; may life treat you well. Together we are strong!
Be Well: Be Kind
Warmly,
Agnes Kamau, Principal
Congratulations to the New Warner Student Body Officers
Nate Verny: President
Eli Casden: Vice President
Liam Saven: Secretary
Congratulations to all the students who gave speeches and ran for office — that is its own accomplishment. Check out some photos of the kids participating in the democratic process.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend Warner Families:
I hope your family is well and that you are taking advantage of the three-day weekend to rest and to prepare to finish strong in the remaining two weeks of the school year.
My recommendation to everyone is to be completely plugged in to all the events planned for the remainder of the school year. There are two (morning) assemblies scheduled for June 2nd and June 6th to appreciate and recognize teachers, students and parent volunteers. Warner Avenue is the best school because of our hard-working teachers, students and parent volunteers. I would love to have as many parents as possible attend the assemblies on June 2nd and June 6th. Are you in?
Other dates to keep in mind are June 9th and June 10th. Both days are minimum days. That means that school begins at8:00am and ends at 12:30pm. It is painful see the sad faces of students sitting in the office for a long time because parents forgot to pick-up them up at 12:30pm. Put a smile on your child’s face by calendaring the minimum day times on your phone.
Our final pillar of character for the year is citizenship. Students will learn about citizenship characteristics and they will be recognized for demonstrating these characteristics by having their name placed on the “Kids with Character” wall. Good citizens are active in the community, they respect authority and obey laws, they help make things better and they protect the environment.
Congratulations to our fifth-grade teachers and students!
The 2016 culminating class is caring, mature, and scholarly. The students’ academic career at Warner Avenue is quickly coming to an end and we are excited to celebrate them on June 9, 2016. Parents, please pay close attention to the Culmination Guideline letter as we collaborate in making this day a memorable experience for everyone.
I am thankful for Warner teachers. They make me proud to be an educator; to principal a team of educators who believe that excellence is the bar, no excuses. When you work with a team that has at the core a can-do attitude, each day is a joy. I am joy-filled!
