Principal’s Corner: A Message from Principal Kamau
Dear Warner Families:
There is excitement in the air as we draw closer to the end of the school year. In most instances the energy is positive and affirmative of our achievements throughout the school year. There are two areas where growth is needed and your (parent) assistance is required.
I seek your assistance with your child in the following ways:
Remind your child to follow school rules, by being respectful and kind at all times.
All school rules apply for the after-school playground. I highly recommend picking up your child at the earliest time possible after school.
After-school cell phone use for any other purpose than home communication is not permitted.
If your child has a cell phone, be mindful of the apps they are accessing. Children are curious beings.
Get to know your child’s friends and parents
B. I seek your assistance with the traffic around campus:
Please do not be rude to other parents – we are role models to all children. Children do what we do, not what we say!
Do not violate our neighbor’s property by parking by or in their driveway.
Using the carpool lane? Have your child seated on the right side and their backpack on the seat beside them. Parents may not get out of the vehicle.
Finally, rules are for the better good and safety of our community.
Give your best for our children!
The fifth-grade culmination committee has been planning and coordinating this big event for the past few months. It is a privilege to have a parent committee willing to coordinate all the minute details of the event. Fifth-grade parents, please lend your support by attending to the committee’s requests with positive rapport and appreciation.
The conversation of Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) has come up over the past year with our teachers and parents. In 2016-2017, GATE learners will be clustered in classrooms. GATE students will continue to learn the same grade-level standards, themes, units and concepts as the rest of the class; however, they will have added opportunities to engage in learning opportunities that require more depth, complexity, novelty and acceleration. Modification of the core instruction allows students to engage at a rigorous level in order to meet their individual academic potential.Warner teachers are trained in Gifted and Talented education and will receive additional training over the summer.
See you at Open House night, Thursday, May 19th: 6:15pm – 7:30pm. An informational flyer came home on Friday, May 13th.
