WARNER ANNUAL FUND
2019-20
Dear Warner Families:
I hope you had a wonderful summer and have enjoyed the first few weeks of school! Welcome to the 2019-20 school year and the launch of the 2019-20 Warner Annual Fund drive.
The Annual Fund is Warner’s highest giving priority, as it bridges the gap between the basic, minimum funding provided to Warner by LAUSD and the essential 21st century resources, services, and equipment necessary to promote the highly successful learning environment at Warner Avenue School. Your contribution to the Annual Fund pays for, among other programs and enhancements, teaching assistants in each classroom and on the school yard, writing and reading workshop programs, and helps ensure that computers, science, physical education, art, and music are deeply embedded in your child’s learning experience. It is because these programs and enhancements (among others) are paid for by the Annual Fund and not by LAUSD, that your donation to the Warner Annual Fund is so critical!
Please consider making your gift to the Annual Fund today, as each gift provides a direct and immediate benefit to our children! Contributions can be made via credit card, cash or a check, and can be paid in full, or spread out over three, six, and nine-month installment plans. Donations are tax deductible and can be made by going to:
Betsy Brown Braun is coming to Warner for a seminar and you won’t want to miss it. This event is open to the community at large but space is extremely limited.
Warner Party Book is now taking submissions for parties hosted by our fabulous Warner families!
How does it work?
As many parents as are interested (usually between 1 and 6 host families works best) pick an event to plan.
The host families pay for the cost of the event, and tickets are sold on the website to our Warner community.
All funds raised go directly to WAVE to help fund our fabulous teachers’ aides, enrichment programs (science, art, performing arts, computer, etc.) and more!
What type of events work?
ANYTHING that kids or adults would enjoy: a slime-making party, movie night, wine and cheese, bowling, Color Me Mine, work out classes, roller skating, cooking classes.
All party book hosts must submit their forms by SEPTEMBER 20th
The Halloween Haunt team is looking for 8 high-energy individuals who love Halloween to serve as “scare” actors inside our Haunted House at our annual Halloween Haunt. Actors must be at least 15 years of age and available on October 27th from 9am-4pm.
Actors must arrive at 9am for makeup and training. The acting shift runs from 11am-4pm. Food and costume provided. This position qualifies for scholastic community service
How would you like to advertise your business to our community AND support our great school at the same time?
Through our “Friends of Warner” program, there are NEW sponsorship opportunities that will give you tons of exposure not just to the Warner parents, but to our entire neighborhood.
This year, we are also in need of sponsors to fund the beautification of our school. Please email warnercorporatesponsorship@gmail.com or call Farnaz at 310-947-2447 for more information.

Responsibility is “taking ownership of one’s thoughts and actions.” The choices we make, such as how we treat others, our choice of words, and how we handle life’s challenges, all depict personal responsibility.
Other ways our children can exemplify responsibility:
– Know what’s expected of them
– Take care of their things
– Do their best (e.g. have a good attitude, don’t give up)
– Think before they act
– Resolve conflicts peacefully
Responsibility charts are a great way to keep children accountable and monitor progress.
